About halfway up the trail to Mount Adams, I heard rushing water and noticed a footpath leading off the main trail. What we found turned out to be my favorite scene out of all my explorations during the New England fall foliage season in 2016. Orange leaves lay scattered among the bright green moss, creating a perfect splash of color to compliment the small cascades. To my delight, a fallen tree crossing the brook was holding a majority of its leavings, filtering the soft light coming through the treeline.
