Milky Way galaxy over Montauk glow - Napatree Point, Rhode Island

To stand in darkness, surrounded by stars and planets, is an experience like no other. The band of the Milky Way galaxy stretched overhead on Watch Hill Beach until it disappeared into the light of the Rhode Island behind us. In this moment I felt so small, so insignificant; just a microscopic piece of a universe of incomprehensible size. When the galaxy rose over the lights on the horizon, I knew it was time for the picture. The stars appeared to emanate from the glow of Montauk and created the perfect composition for what was already a perfect night. Few scenes have left me with the excitement and awe that I felt as I walked off the beach that evening.
