Milky Way galaxy over Spot Pond - Middlesex Fells, Massachusetts

As darkness sets in over a frozen landscape, it is accompanied by an eerie and still silence. That was the atmosphere which guided me through planning and creating this image from the Middlesex Fells. After waiting for the snow on Spot Pond to melt and re-freeze, I arrived one evening to find the conditions I was hoping for. As I walked the trails around the reservoir, I noticed a large split in the ice that led in the perfect direction. Waiting for the best light, my hands froze in the cold, but I was able to complete the frames needed to put this scene together.
