As a landscape photographer, I’m always watching for the next big storm, and hoping the sky breaks at sunset. Some of the most intriguing and colorful cloud formations occur at the end of heavy storms. That was the case for this scene, where the conclusion of a few days of rain resulted in a fiery orange sky over the Boston Harbor. Anticipating that the weather would turn, I made it to Deer Island just in time to photograph this pre-planned spot in the harbor. The visibility of the structures in the water depends on the height of the tide, so I had waited months for the right weather conditions of align with the tide levels of the harbor. The sunset was exciting to witness and photograph, and the color lingered long after I finished my work.
